Resident Evil: Outbreak is Capcom's PS2 survival horror classic from 2003, and for two decades the only honest way to play it was on original hardware. The Resident Evil Outbreak browser project changed that: a fan-built emulator runs the original disc straight in a browser tab, free, with nothing to install. This page links to its File #1 build, the release with the five original scenarios. The setting is Raccoon City in the middle of its outbreak, and the cast is eight ordinary survivors, each with a useful quirk: one picks locks, one heals, one carries more, one handles weapons better than the rest. Scenarios are self-contained episodes with their own objectives and timers, and the series staples are all here: scarce ammo, healing items that never stretch far enough, and a clock that keeps moving whether you are ready or not. What made Outbreak matter in 2003 was online play, one of Capcom's first full attempts at it, and the project brings that back with its own servers. Up to four players can run a scenario together, or you can go in solo with two AI teammates covering your blind spots. Private rooms let you play with friends instead of matching with strangers. A few things to know before you click. It runs on a desktop browser and leans on your GPU, so an old machine will struggle. Peak hours crowd the servers, and the first load takes a while since the game streams the original disc. A controller works, saves are supported, and it is all free with no account. The Resident Evil Outbreak browser project is a fan work and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Capcom. Resident Evil: Outbreak has nothing to do with football; playing it opens the project's site in a new tab, and Head Football Games does not host the game files. No download, no account.
